“The European Commission, in cooperation with the European Committee of the Regions, is organising an EU “Conference on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services: a Common Agenda to 2020 and Beyond” with the objective to look back at what has been achieved by the EU, to draw on lessons learned and reflect on main challenges for the future. The conference provides the starting point for the public consultation of the final evaluation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020.

EU High-Level Conference on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
This high-level session will bring together EU policy-makers and stakeholders in order to take stock of achievements in the field of nature and biodiversity during this Commission, as well as reflect on the state of biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people in the EU and globally, and challenges for the future.
The session will also mark the 40th Anniversary of the EU Birds Directive followed by a dinner reception

Stakeholder consultation on the Final evaluation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy to 2020
The second day of the EU Biodiversity Conference will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to the evaluation of the EU biodiversity strategy to 2020. Stakeholders and decision-makers within, as well as beyond, the environment and conservation community will discuss and reflect on achievements, factors of success as well as barriers to implementation and progress towards the targets.
A special side session in the afternoon is dedicated to Communicating biodiversity.”
