“The MIT Plastics & the Environment Program presents a 3-day scientific workshop to present and discuss the latest research in the field of modelling plastic pollution in oceans and waterways. Join researchers from MIT, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the University of Oxford, and more to understand how advances in sensing and computer models are giving us a clearer picture than ever of how plastics are transported, degraded and deposited through our planet’s waters, and discuss what can be done about this growing threat to the world’s oceans. Breakout sessions will focus on future collaborations between research institutions, foundations, private enterprise and government.

Keynote speaker Kara Lavender Law of the Sea Education Association, WHOI, will be joined by leaders in the field including Tom Peacock, Ton van den Bremer, Scott Gallager, Glenn Flierl, Daniel Bourgault, and numerous others. You can read the agenda or download the workshop brochure here.

Discounted tickets are available for students and faculty working on relevant research at any university.

This workshop is presented with support from the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative, the World Universities Network, and the member institutions of the Plastics & the Environment Program.
