Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) launched a landmark report which highlighted the global plight of wildlife and ecosystems, and proposed bold actions to conserve them. An in-depth global synthesis of trends in biodiversity, it found that nearly 1 million species – about 25% of those studied – are threatened with extinction due to various types of human activities. The report includes a powerful call to transform our global financial and economic systems towards sustainability.
